Fight The Signs of Aging
Laser Treatment for Dark Spots
Age spots, dark spots, sunspots- these are the common terms for brown spots, but no matter what you call them, they are still visible signs of aging. Oasis Dermatology offers Laser Treatment for Dark Spots so you can look more youthful and feel more confident.
Exposure to sunlight and age are the two biggest factors in developing age spots. At Oasis Dermatology, we provide our patients a wide range of treatment plans for removing both sun spots and sun damage.

Removing Skin Problems
How Does Laser Therapy Work?
High-energy pulsing lasers in laser therapy can remove many types of skin problems, such as sunspots, broken capillaries, birthmarks, and angiomas (red spots). With this procedure, the laser directs energy to the skin’s surface and sub-dermal layers to stimulate certain responses.
The skin responds to our laser treatment in two ways. The first one is by increasing collagen production and other healing factors. The other response is expediting the skin’s cellular turnover so that dark spots can successfully be exfoliated. The result? A more even skin tone.
Laser Treatment for Acne Scars
Ablative laser resurfacing uses a laser wand to zap away old skin layers affected by acne revealing newer, fresher skin. It is also known as “laser peeling.” The laser treatment for acne scars heats the skin layers underneath to promote collagen production, which in turn stimulates the skin’s healing process. We deliver a custom tailored treatment plan designed to achieve optimal results for a smoother and more even appearance.

Things You May Want to Know
Facial Laser Treatment FAQS
How long will a skin laser treatment take?
Laser treatments take 15 minutes to an hour. The total time that it will take will depend on the size, color, and depth of the spots being treated, as well as the number of spots.
How many laser treatments are needed?
Patients who have red spots can usually see a noticeable difference in one to two treatments. Brown spots may require two to three visits for improvement. Broken capillaries or red-colored scars may need more than one visit to correct.
How long before I get my desired result?
Patients often see immediate results after laser treatment, but side effects may persist for weeks or even months. During this time, you should avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen on any area that has been treated. Doing so will prevent skin damage that might occur and help you to achieve the best results possible once the healing process is complete. The entire outcome of the treatment may not be apparent for up to six months after the treatment as the skin continues to heal itself at the cellular level.
Does laser treatment for dark circles hurt?
Most patients undergoing laser treatment for dark circles or age spots do not experience significant pain. Cool air accompanies each laser to help soothe the treated area. Most patients describe the feeling of the laser treatment as a little rubber band snapping. But if you are concerned about the pain, you may request a numbing cream to apply as a topical anesthetic.
Is laser face treatment safe for all skin?
Some laser treatments can be used on any skin type. Some lasers, however, are designed to avoid increasing melanin production in skin tones with medium to dark complexions. Our clinic uses the most advanced lasers on the market, which can give you natural-looking results.
How should I prepare for a skin laser treatment?
To prepare for laser treatments, you should avoid unprotected sun exposure and other elements that might darken your skin at least two weeks before your appointment.
Furthermore, you should also avoid practices that might cause skin irritation and postpone your treatment, such as harsh exfoliating treatments, including chemical peels, retinol, and other energy-based therapies.
How long after a laser treatment will I recover?
You will be able to carry on with your usual routine after your appointment as the downtime of laser treatments is relatively short or none at all. Some restrictions that you will need to observe during skin recovery include avoiding hot water, scrubbing the skin, or using chemical exfoliants for at least two weeks.
After your treatment, it is essential to protect your skin from any melanin triggers. Avoiding sunlight, self-tanning products, and tanning beds during the first two to four weeks will help reduce the risk of side effects later. Please wear broad-spectrum SPF when outside for more than a few minutes.
How long will the results last?
Laser treatment for dark spots can produce long-lasting results. However, this will only occur if you avoid further sun exposure that can trigger more melanin production in the skin.
