Do you suspect a potential skin cancer risk? These concerns can be addressed with various surgical skin procedures. At Oasis Dermatology, our surgical dermatology services range from removal of unwanted growths to treatment of skin cancers or abnormal moles with excisions.
MOLE, DYSPLASTIC NEVI, AND MELANOMA EXCISIONS
In general, moles shouldn’t cause any concern as almost everyone has moles. However, when you see moles that change in shape, size, or color, it’s important to consult a board-certified dermatologist so they can be removed.
Our mole removal procedure is safe and we make sure we minimize scarring and create a smooth, discreet finish leaving your skin looking better.
CYST DRAINAGE AND REMOVAL
Sebaceous cysts are lumps under the skin. The sacs that often form are filled with oily or cheese-like substance. While most of these are harmless, they may grow and become infected, inflamed, swollen, or tender.
There are various treatment procedures available including:
✓ Laser-Aided Excision
✓ Minimal Excision
✓ Conventional Wide Excision
✓ Punch Excision
Benign skin cysts or fatty growths are medically known as lipomas. They typically form under the skin. Most look like pimples, but may grow larger if left untreated.
If this skin growth makes you anxious, visit our clinic and our dermatologist may suggest a procedure to remove or drain the cyst to give your confidence back.
BENIGN GROWTH REMOVAL
As we age, more spots start to appear on our body. Although most of these benign skin growths are harmless, you may choose to have them removed to have a clearer and healthier looking skin.
We can remove various benign growths such as skin tags, cherry angiomas, age spots, and more.
Skin Cancer Check
FULL BODY EXAM WITH OUR BOARD-CERTIFIED DERMATOLOGIST
When it comes to skin cancer, an annual skin check is your first line of defense. Early detection plays an important role in diagnosis and treatment. So even without visible skin problems, we recommend getting an annual skin cancer check at our clinic.
During your visit at Oasis Dermatology, our board-certified dermatologist Dr. Ahluwalia and her team, will check all parts of your body, including your scalp, neck, and back. She will examine and evaluate any spots that may be potentially dangerous. Plus, you get a record of your current evaluation so it’s easy to monitor any changes in the future.
What are the...
ABCDEs of Suspicious Growths?
Normally, moles and other growths are symmetrical and are less than ¼ inch in size. One feature of a potential malignant growth is when a symmetrical mole turns to an irregular shape.
Benign moles have uniform color. Melanomas, on the other hand, show a mix of two or more color shades. Some are in the shades of black and brown, others are red or blue.
Most benign moles just look the same over the years. When a mole evolves in shape, color, size, or develops a symptom like itching, bleeding, or crusting, this can be potentially dangerous.
Blemishes and marks are typically oval or round in shape. They also have smooth borders. When these blemishes turn notched, blurry, or have rugged borders, they may be a sign of precancerous growths.
A mole or growth that grows larger than a quarter of an inch may suggest melanoma.
